 Basic Information 

Brand - Computer equipment manufacturer,

Series - Specific laptop production line, for example, Zbook, Precision. It's easiest to compare this to Mercedes where they can be divided into classes like S, G, E...

Model - Specific computer equipment model. 

 Operating System 

Operating system - The version of the operating system installed on the laptop/computer.
Computer equipment being sold comes with installed drivers and basic programs including the Libre Office suite.

 Processor

Processor series - Processor family, a specific processor series.
To explain easily, Intel has series (from slowest to fastest): Atom, Celeron, Pentium, Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7, while in AMD's newer Ryzen family, it corresponds to Ryzen 3, Ryzen 5, Ryzen 7, Ryzen 9.

Processor model - Specific processor model.

Number of cores / threads
Core - These are physical, independent computational units inside the processor that perform tasks.
Thread - Threads are task execution units inside cores. Processors with multithreading support can perform more operations on a single core, resulting in better performance in handling multiple tasks simultaneously.

Clock base / turbo - Processor operating frequency, expressed in hertz (Hz). It determines the processor clock speed, i.e., how many operations it can perform in a unit of time. In newer processor generations, each core can have a different clock speed; this information needs to be checked directly with the manufacturer. The turbo value is provided on the website and allows the processor to increase its operating frequency above the base clock when needed. This mechanism adjusts to the processor's workload, temporarily raising its frequency, which enhances performance when required.

Processor generation - Specifies the order of processor families, for example, Intel i5-6200U is the 6th Generation, and Intel i5-8250U is the 8th generation. The higher the generation, the newer the processor.

 RAM Memory

Amount of RAM - The amount of available operational memory expressed in GB, which is a kind of temporary file space. More RAM can improve system performance by enabling the handling of more programs simultaneously or more demanding applications.

Specifies the specific technology used in the RAM module. The type of RAM affects the system's throughput and performance, and compatibility with the motherboard and processor is crucial.

For everyday laptops, 8GB is sufficient. If you work with various graphics programs or use extensive databases, a larger amount of RAM is recommended.

Maximum RAM size - The maximum amount of RAM the processor can support.

 Hard Drive

Hard Drive - Provided in SSD format 256GB M.2 (NVMe) as follows:

Type of drive
1. SSD is a fast and durable drive built with electronic chip memory cells.
2. HDD is a mechanical disk; data is placed on rotating disks driven by a motor at speeds of 5400/7200 RPM. Data is read by a moving head hovering over the disks using electromagnetic forces.
3. SSHD is a combination of two technologies, primarily an HDD with frequently used files being transferred to semiconductor memory.

Capacity - The capacity of a 1TB drive is 1024GB / 1000GB, depending on the manufacturer's designation. Therefore, a 1TB drive has only 931GB instead of 1024GB because manufacturers simplify by using 1GB = 1024MB, 1MB = 1024KB, but often use 1MB = 1000KB.

Dimension - Physical size of the drive
1. 2.5" - drive dimensions are 69.85 mm x 100.50 mm, mostly utilizing the SATA interface/connector.
2. M.2 - drive dimensions are 22mm by (30mm / 42mm / 80mm / 100mm), using the M.2 connector.

Interface - Communication standard
SATA - Interface speed is 6Gb/s, providing a maximum throughput of up to 600MB/s, but it depends on the drive.
NVMe - Utilizing the PCIe line, the drive's speed limitation is often the drive itself, achieving speeds of up to 2GB/s.

* An SSD drive that fails often results in irretrievable data loss due to its operational specifics.
** HDD data is physically etched onto disks. Specialized companies can recover data from severely damaged drives, but this incurs costs. Therefore, always remember to ALWAYS BACK UP IMPORTANT DATA to another device or in the cloud.

 Graphics Card

Wi-Fi (WLAN) - Simply put, it's the built-in Wi-Fi network in the device, which also comes in various standards as below:

- Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax): The latest Wi-Fi standard offering higher performance and data transfer speeds than previous versions. It supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks and provides higher throughput, enabling support for a larger number of devices simultaneously.

- Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac): This is the previous standard that also operates in both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. Wi-Fi 5 offers faster speeds than older standards, facilitating higher-quality data transmission.

- Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n): An earlier standard that also supports 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. Wi-Fi 4 is less efficient than Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 6, offering lower data transfer speeds but still allowing internet connection and basic wireless communication.

- Wi-Fi 3: Supports only 2.4 GHz

Ethernet (LAN) - This is a way of connecting computers and network devices using cables. It's a traditional and stable method for creating a local network, enabling fast data transfer, usually up to 1Gb/s within a home, office, or institution. Here, not only the LAN network card in the device matters but also the cable itself.

Bluetooth - Bluetooth is a wireless technology for connecting devices like headphones, speakers, keyboards, or mice over short distances. It comes in various versions: Bluetooth 1.x, 2.x, 3.x, 4.x, 5.x, each introducing improvements in terms of speed, range, energy consumption, and connection stability.

LTE 4G - A network card enabling connection to the internet via a SIM card.

LTE  is a mobile data transmission technology offering high-speed mobile internet in the 4G standard. It is currently widely used for fast data transfer through mobile networks.

5G is a newer standard for mobile networks, offering even higher speeds than LTE and lower latency. 5G provides faster data transfers, enabling the development of new technologies and applications, such as autonomous vehicles or augmented reality (AR).

 Screen

Screen Resolution - The number of pixels displayed in width x height. A pixel is a tiny square on the monitor. The following standards can be distinguished:
HD = 1366x768 [720p]
HD+ = 1600x900 [900p]
FullHD = 1920x1080 [1080p]
QHD = 2560x1440 [1440p]
UHD (4K) = 3840x2160 [2k / 2160p]
Indeed, screens advertised as 4k are actually 2k compared to Full HD 1080p, considering that this resolution is four times FullHD.

Screen Size - Physical size of the display expressed in inches. Remember that the screen size includes the frame around the display.

Screen Type - Type of display

TN Panel (Twisted Nematic): This technology is relatively cheaper to produce and offers fast response times, which can be useful in gaming. However, TN panels have narrow viewing angles and often inferior color reproduction compared to other panel types.

IPS Panel (In-Plane Switching): IPS panels feature better viewing angles and superior color quality compared to TN. They offer better color reproduction and more stable colors even at wider angles.

Matte Panels (Anti-glare): Matte panels reduce light reflections on the screen, particularly useful in bright lighting conditions or outdoors, though sometimes may provide a slightly less sharp image compared to glossy panels.

Glossy Panels (Reflective): Glossy panels have a more reflective surface, which might make colors appear more vibrant. However, they reflect light, which can be inconvenient in strong lighting conditions.

Sound Card  - The model of the built-in sound card in the device or a quality certification, e.g., Bang & Olufsen, usually in the form of two speakers divided into left and right.

USB 3.x: USB standards include USB 3.0, USB 3.1 Gen 1, USB 3.1 Gen 2, and USB 3.2, with varying data transfer speeds up to 20/10 Gbps.

Video Connectors
